Buzzing atmosphere at electrical events

20 June 2022

What a buzz! We’ve just completed our two North Island WorldSkills NZ Electrical Interschool Events.

Hawke’s Bay put on an incredible welcome at the beginning of the month, starting us off in style at our first event in Napier. The atmosphere was equally electric in the Waikato. We are now enjoying the Southern hospitality of the Mainland as we get ready for South Island schools to rise to the Interschool Challenges.

We kick off in the Deep South, with Invercargill on Tuesday 21 June, followed by Dunedin on Thursday 23, Timaru on Wednesday 29 and Christchurch on 30 June. All the South Island events have the bonus of running alongside the Master Electricians Apprentice Challenge. It’s such an awesome opportunity to have the chance to see and speak with young apprentices working on specific projects. We welcome anyone interested in the electrical sector to come along and see the action as it unfolds!

This month has been full-on and so inspiring to see and talk with students, teachers, employers, and trainers who are studying, training, and working across the electrical sector. There is a real sense of energy and community! We’ve already received such great feedback from students and teachers alike for the awesome days celebrating and applying real practical learning.

We couldn’t run these events without the amazing support of the Ministry of Education, Te Pukenga, St John Community Education Staff, Ideal Electrical, Mechanical Support Solutions, First Flex, ATT and ETCO and many local employers. Thank you!
