Erica Cumming

WorldSkills NZ and the Board of WorldSkills NZ would like to acknowledge the recent passing of our much valued and respected Trustee, Erica Cumming.

Erica first became involved with WSNZ during her days with HITO, the Industry Training Organisation and since 2014 actively served on the WorldSkills NZ board. Her fellow Trustees considered her to be highly intelligent, forthright, wise in her advice and ideas and very comfortable in her own skin. She made an invaluable contribution to supporting the next generation of skilled workers, not just in her profession, but across New Zealand VET.

She was instrumental in NZ competing internationally in the hairdressing skill and in the process ensured increased diversity within the NZ team. She attended the 2015 WorldSkills Competition in Brazil as an official observer where she made a memorable impression on the WorldSkills International Community.

Erica was warm, friendly, sincere, caring, professional, well-liked and respected.
WSNZ takes great pride in her WorldSkills legacy and how many lives she has touched both domestically and internationally.
