John Wardrop and his wife, Annabell, live in Auckland although we both have significant ties to South Auckland South Auckland where they grew up. They have two daughters, Amy and Sara.
John was educated in Papakura and after leaving Papakura high in 1967, he took a panelbeating apprenticeship. He remained in the trade until Annabell and he married and went to England where he worked for three years with Charles Offord & Sons, who were true coach builders in London.
After returning to NZ, John worked in the trade prior to taking a position with a company that made commercial aluminium & steel joinery.
In 1979, he joined Fisher & Paykel Appliances as a Purchasing Officer and remained with the company for 30 fantastic years, until his retirement in 2009. During this time, John held various management and executive roles in procurement, logistics, operations management, and HR.
John is a Trustee of The Rising Foundation, an organisation that supports, mentors, and provides positive pathways for at risk youth primarily in South Auckland.
He is an avid follower of most sports (Go Counties), and enjoys fly fishing and travel.
